Resolutions or Themes?

What were your New Year's resolutions for 2021?

I didn't make any. I've found that if I set them but don't stick to them I get down on myself. I start beating myself up. And yuck - who needs more of that?

Instead of setting resolutions I found a more productive alternative -- I set a "theme" for the year.

A theme is simple and clear. One to three words is plenty.

One year my theme was "Ease". Another year it was "Abundance". My theme for 2022 is "Thrive".

Keeping it simple means I can remember my theme and apply to many different situations. Am I in a sales slump? Is my teenager is being a jerk? Was my diagnosis not the one I was hoping for?

"Ease" "Abundance" or "Thrive" remind me to lighten up, to de-personalize, and focus on the big picture -- I am a master salesperson -- teenagers are supposed to be jerks -- in this moment I can take care of myself.

What's your theme for 2022?
