Celebrate Your Wins

There's a cultural norm I've noticed among some service providers where winning a new client isn't celebrated.

"We're expected to hit our numbers", goes the thinking, "so what's the big deal about bringing in a new client?"

Is it because we carry the stress of the chase straight into a sprint to onboard them as a new client?

But flattening our emotional responses, whether positive or negative, hurts our mental and emotional well-being. And when that flattening becomes a habit, we're actively (and unintentionally) blocking our growth.

Celebrating our victories is so important. And in my view, the sillier the celebration is, the better.

My celebration ritual is putting on Tijuana Taxi by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass and doing the Twist, the Pony, and the Frug, just because it's fun and makes me laugh. It also heightens my sense of well-being -- and isn't that what celebration is all about?

At the moment I'm even learning how to Floss. Can you imagine your whole team Flossing in celebration of a new client on a zoom call...?!

Professional victories come in many flavors: shipping a tricky deliverable, deploying a new lead generation routine, even completing your daily action plan. I suggest finding a quick, fun way to celebrate them all!
